Design Studio 2

In this second elemental design studio, there was a great focus on the investigation of small-scale architectural design problems. Through a number of nested design exercises, I was expected to understand the expressive and performative potential of the foundational elements of architecture and their relationships to the context. The studio investigated shared domestic spaces that serve as the nexus of collective living, situating the theme of domesticity not only in realms of privacy but also amidst public spheres. Thinking through new technologies and cultural shifts that inspire contemporary dwelling changes, the studio intended to investigate and update the ADU housing typology, proposing new domestic forms of collective living that respond to themes and dimensions of affordability and collectivity.
