Building Systems

This course is grounded in the belief that a deeper understanding of environmental systems is
essential to architectural thinking—not as technical afterthoughts, but as foundational to how
buildings perform, feel, and endure. I explored how energy, matter, and climate move through space, materials, and boundaries and how these flows can be understood, measured, represented, and thoughtfully engaged. Key themes include climate science, thermodynamics, human comfort, passive design strategies, building materials, boundaries, and the fundamentals of life cycle thinking. The course emphasizes conceptual frameworks over calculation, offering a foundation in
analytical thinking that empowered me to examine both historical and contemporary strategies.
